NU Advisory Partners Buyer Map

Zev | NU Advisory Partners | October 2026

As of 15 Oct 2026

NU Advisory Partners runs retained executive search and advisory for board, CEO, C-suite and broader executive roles, across the industries its site lists from software and fintech to sports, media and life sciences.

This page maps the organizations that hire a retained search firm for those seats, grouped by type, and who usually signs off at each.

Where the buyers sit

Groups drawn from the industries and client types named on the NU Advisory Partners site. Investor firms and sports and media owners have no clean public count, so they show none.

Who usually signs off at each group

A retained search is usually signed by the person who owns the outcome of the hire, and run day to day by the people leader.

Where the decision really starts

At sponsor backed companies the search often starts with the investor, not the company. The operating or talent partner at the fund sees the gap first, sets the brief and recommends the firm, and the portfolio CEO or board signs.

For a CEO or board seat the board chair or the nominating committee owns the decision. For a functional C-suite seat such as CFO, CTO, General Counsel or Chief People Officer, the CEO signs and the people leader manages the process.

Where to start

Operating and talent partners at sponsor firms

Much of the work on the NU Advisory Partners site is for private equity and venture backed companies, and the firm also places operating partners. One relationship with a talent or operating partner can lead to repeat searches across a whole portfolio, so this group is worth going after by name.

Boards and CEOs facing a top seat change

The site leads with board, CEO and C-suite search. Board chairs and CEOs at public and sponsor backed companies in the industries it lists are the people who sign those briefs, and the timing usually follows a deal, a raise or a departure.

People leaders at growth technology companies

The site names CFO, CHRO, General Counsel, CTO and go-to-market placements across technology. At growth software and internet companies the Chief People Officer runs those searches, which makes that role a direct route to the functional C-suite briefs.

Built from public federal registries and the company's own website, counts banded deliberately.
